Training
After
you have a trained retriever you certainly want to maintain their
education if not advance it. We have a maintenance and tune up program
to help keep your companion sharp. We recommend that at least once
a year that we be allowed to troubleshoot any problems that have
cropped up from lack of training time or just a bad habit that has
formed. Young retrievers benefit by coming in just after hunting
season while the problems are fresh. We then recommend a refresher
before hunting season to keep the corrections engrained in the dog’s
memory. Generally the first and second seasons of a young dog are
when they will take advantage of getting loose through repetitious
hunting and lack of the owner being able to concentrate on the problems
as they arise. It is most beneficial to fix these problems at season’s
end.
These
sessions are generally 4 to 6 weeks depending on the desired results.
